Our Service Procedures

Our approach to a project is just as important as the quality of the products we install. You can relax knowing we have the job under control and won’t leave a mess. Experience has taught us that there’s a right way and a wrong way to approach your exterior remodeling job.

Here’s how we do it:

  1. No deposit, ever!
  2. A job-site toilet and dumpster will be brought to your home’s curbside.
  3. Siding products will be delivered to the job site and neatly organized to allow you to maintain your normal daily life.
  4. All required siding material will be removed from the house.
  5. Each day, all debris will be cleaned up to ensure livability during our remodel service. All precautions will be taken to protect your yard’s beauty and health. Our trained siding crews are efficient, dependable, accountable, and approachable.
  6. We will inspect the substructure (plywood) for any dry rot.
  7. Following the removal of your old siding we will completely re-wrap your home in DuPont Tyvek Drain Wrap (DuPont’s research states that a moisture barrier, once used, is no longer useful for its original purpose. You should never let a contractor put new siding on an old moisture barrier.) We use header flashing on all windows and doors and tape and seal around all exterior openings.
  8. Install all new clear, pre-primed, cedar corners, both the inside and the outside. Cedar is durable and won’t cup, curl or shrink like white wood trim does.
  9. All caulking applied on new siding will be Sonneborn’s Sonolastic 150 – a commercial grade 20-year caulk.
  10. If you choose to re-side with Hardiplank, you will be pleased to know that 1st Oregon is a preferred Gold Level James Hardie installer. All siding will be installed using ¼ inch spacing on all openings and midfield joints will be butted tightly with Tyvek flashing for superior fit and finish. Stainless steel ring shanks (gun-driven) hold your new siding tight.
  11. If you choose to re-side with cedar, we exclusively use Lakeside Lumber because they have the best wood, best service and the best reputation. We use the same spacing as Hardiplank, secure with stainless steel ring nails (hand-driven) and use Sonneborn’s Sonolastic 150 caulking.
  12. When your house is ready to be painted, we use Sherwin Williams paint. New cedar siding will be coated with one coat of Sherwin Williams’ Woodscapes to guarantee no tannin bleed on the nail heads, knots or butt ends before it is painted.
  13. There will be a complete clean up of the job site and a final inspection.
